CLEANING PROCEDURE:
It is important that the vehicle surface be free from wax, grease and any contaminants. You can use Prep-Sol, or other solvent wax and tar remover. Once all contaminants are removed, wipe over area again with rubbing alcohol using a clean lint free cloth. Wipe a final time with another clean cloth dampened with water. You will know if the vehicle is cleaned properly if your finger "drags" along the surface.
APPLICATION FLUID:
Fill a 24 oz. spray bottle with water. Add 1 DROP of liquid hand soap (not dishwashing liquid). DO NOT OVER-ESTIMATE ON SOAP (too much soap will take longer for the graphic to set up). Add 1 teaspoon of rubbing alcohol.
- First, determine where you would like to place the graphic on the vehicle. Make sure graphic is positioned properly, using masking tape to hold it in place if necessary. You can also use masking tape to give you a guideline if you need one.
- Slowly peel away the release liner from one half of the graphic and cut it off, exposing the adhesive.
- Using the application fluid, wet the vehicle surface and the exposed adhesive side of the graphic thoroughly. This will help you position the graphic kit without it sticking too quickly. Lightly position the graphic and starting from the center, squeegee overlapping strokes to push out the solution from under the graphic. This will remove most of the air and water bubbles. Repeat this process for the other half of the graphic kit.
- Before removing the top surface transfer tape, squeegee again using firm pressure to make sure you have removed as much solution as possible. Wet the transfer tape thoroughly with application fluid. Spray it down well to help soften the transfer tape and make removal easier. Slowly remove the transfer tape back on itself (180 degrees) at an angle. If the vinyl lifts with the transfer tape, re-squeegee it down using firm pressure. Try to get all of the liquid out from under the graphic. (Note: if vinyl still lifts with transfer tape, you may have too much soap in the application fluid, or the vehicle surface may be too cold. You can try to help evaporate excess liquid and warm the vehicle surface by using a small amount of heat lightly over the troubled area with a heat gun or blow dryer. Make sure to keep the heat gun at least 10-12 inches away from the vinyl surface to avoid burning the graphic.)
- After removing the transfer tape, squeegee over the graphic again lightly to remove any remaining solution or air bubbles. Any remaining air bubbles can be removed by using a pin and pushing the air out.
- Trim the graphic where necessary. Use an Exacto or single edge blade and trim lightly. Any openings such as doors and fender breaks should be trimmed back away from edges at least 1/8th of an inch.
- Wipe the surface of remaining solution with a clean dry cloth.
CAR WASHING:
- Avoid washing your vehicle for at least five (5) days to allow for a secure bond.
- The pressure sensitive adhesive bonds very well when first applied but sets more firmly after a few days.
- If you are using a Do-it-Yourself car wash, DO NOT HOLD THE WASH WAND CLOSER THAN TEN (10") INCHES TO THE DECAL SURFACE.
- You can wax over your car graphic as it will keep the decal clean and protected.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners on the graphic.
REMOVAL:
Car graphics and Truck graphics can be removed using a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the decal and then pull away from vehicle surface. Use a solvent or citrus based adhesive/glue remover to take off any sticky residue if necessary. Follow with rubbing alcohol and wipe off with a soft clean towel.
